 Rockland County is one of the largest counties in upstate New York. It is the southwestern most county in the west side of this state, in the U.S. State of New York. It has a low unemployment rate and is well educated with more than eighty percent of its people having a college degree. These include: the only ferryboat in New York City to cross the Manhattan Island; the only morgue in upstate New York with a permanent structure; the oldest freestanding house on Long Island and the oldest Jewish cemetery in the United States. The county has a great deal to offer visitors in terms of cultural activities. Rockland County has a rich history filled with notable people and events. The New York State Museum in New York City and the Rockland County Historical Society in Gloversville both host a variety of cultural events each year. There are many events in Rockandale County that benefit charities and promote community goodwill. These events celebrate various types of cultures and traditions.

A local restaurant called "Haverstraws Lanes" opened in this location and it quickly became popular because of its convenient location and its quality food.


Rockandale is located at the crossroads between two large mountain ranges: the Rockandale National Recreation Area and the Hudson Highlands National Green-belt. This means that you can travel to three distinct parts of Rockandale by going through Rockandale. The Jewish Center is located in Rockandale; the New York City skyline can be seen in the direction of New Hope, New York; and the Rockandale Opera House presents regularly performing shows in Rockandale.
